religion

“What do you do?”

We can thank religion, also, for our fanatic worship of work. Because of our newly founded idiocracy (caused also by unfounded belief) our imaginations have been drained dry and what is left is a shell, ready to be filled by ideology and idiocy.

We are not interested in what purpose each of us has or to what end that we act or thinking, but only to what the other “does”. What an ugly word: “does”. It is only interested in meritocratic acts, in usefulness, only in biding time until death.

“What do you do?” “What have you done?” These questions lack interest and sincerity. They are not asked out of curiosity but out of judgement. They are not asked out of interest. No. Only out of the lack of knowing what else to ask.

Work is defined from necessity now. It is no different than eating, sleeping or shitting; a bodily function. I am not interested in “what you do”- but only “why you do it”. But to no avail because meritocracy inevitably leads to the mediocracy of money.

Remember One Thing

“You need to remember one thing.”

“And what’s that?!”  The Leader asked lackadaisically.

“There’s always a weakest link and that link will define us in the end.  And the fact is these people, these weakest links, never think that it is them.  They are certain they are progressive and understand the circumstances.  They don’t.  They are looking for solutions but we are looking for answers to a specific question.  What they don’t understand is that solutions are easy, answers are not.  These elites’ solutions are based on the promise of good, virtue.  We have to promise victimhood.  We have to point out conniving, scheming, evil, these elites are.  We have to remind these followers of ours how the weak hold the strong down.  What those who are looking for solutions don’t realize is that it is ego and arrogance not thoughtful analysis that wins the day.  We have that on our side.”

The Advisor and the New Politic

“This shit doesn’t matter.  It’s a game but it’s a game that we have to win.  Don’t make the mistake of thinking that religion just pumps out stupidity.  Yes!  The masses are stupidly religious, but they don’t matter.  They don’t have any say.  They, and always remember this, don’t have money.  They’ll do what these, who are these…”

“The FOF.”  The Leader answered, “They love me.  I know they do.  They love me almost as much as their god.”

“Yea, OK…the FOF.” The advisor interrupted.

He went on.

“It matters what they believe because what they believe will create and shape what we say and how we do what we will do.  Our fates, not just theirs, are determined by them and not us.  We’ll speak but we will have to believe what we say.  This is imperative.  We have to be dogmatic because otherwise they’ll start thinking for themselves.  Remember, we’re talking about a bunch of morons.  These people only matter because they matter to us.

Don’t think of this as being false.  Think of it as being necessary.  We have to test, test the limits if there are even any.  It’s important to realize that we live in a perpetual situation between conversation and violence.  We have to make sure that the conversation is about violence.  Remember, there are only three things that the public understands: guns, god, and greed.  And we have to represent all three.  Otherwise, well we all know the ‘otherwise’.”

Guns, God, Greed: From Chapter 2: God’s Plan

He hated sitting through the meetings with these bible-thumpers, not because they didn’t adore him, they did.  He had bought some of their adoration.  But because he couldn’t trust them.  He couldn’t trust them because these people really believed what they said.  For this reason they were dangerous to him as The Leader.  He accepted them out of necessity.  They were a business deal.  They didn’t seem to understand that he didn’t answer to them, but he did.  It was this that bothered him so much.  And so, as they rambled on he acted interested.

“Sir.  It is truly a sign that the end-times are here, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me.  Sir you are in the service of God and Jesus Christ himself.  We have worked hard in a world which is dead-set against the Lord’s followers.  And now it will all change.  The wicked shall weep, sir, and the Lord’s children will reap their righteous place in heaven.  All because of you, sir, all because of you…”

The Leader sat soaking in the diatribes against modern society.  He heard them but he didn’t listen to them.  He found them pathetic and they didn’t seem to notice.  This irritated him further.  One after another leader spoke.  The Catholics were worried about the abortion issue.  The protestants were angry at the secularization of society.  The Foundation for Our Father leaders, though, they had a plan.  He was interested.

“Sir.  We are from The Foundation for Our Father or ‘FOF’ for short.”  The well-dressed, oddly calm man handed The Leader a large folder.  It was very neat and organized.

“We at FOF have watched as this country has been overrun with secular ideologies and…let’s say ‘those without Christ’.  And we have watched as our founding father’s intentions have been infested with so-called progressive thought that has no other intention but to undermine this country’s founding religion, Christianity.  Sir, this country is sliding into an immoral, pluralistic ethic that has been weakening the very pillars of our democracy. Sir, what I’m trying to say is, that we have a plan that we have spent the past nine years working on and we believe we can win our country back.  But we need your help.”

A Grinding Start

This is the start of writing about the future while watching the present roll to a grinding start. Over the horizon there are the hoards and behind them walking away is their leader. He, and they, will never be mine. The future is binary now. Stay here and fight or move away and be forced to watch. Actions cease to have impact.

We have landed where we land; it is what we do.

And while life will go on those majority will be forced (have forced themselves) to accept the unadulterated humanity that will now stand erect with pride; a pride that stems from rank ignorance and arrogance of being so.

They do not understand that it is they that cause history to repeat itself. And if they did they would call it progress. Now we must live in a world where we don’t belong. We have to watch as we sink back into the muck of evil and greed while the dazed and confused watch monkeys dance on the fire of their own destruction.

And So It Begins

Where is the hope in this? it is nothing new; it is no surprise, except one: that the past disappears so readily; that history is forgotten so happily. Sometimes it is as if our words do nothing but dissipate into space, bouncing off asteroids and nothing else.

The cycle of evil starts (yet again) with hope and hope is brought down like a giraffe by invading marauders. Then there will be a tiredness and those that can will ask the same question: “Why can’t we do better than this?!”

And then, they too begin to forget who we are at our core, and plans are made. Plans are made and belief is born, and evil is forgotten, and days are sunny. And so it begins: guns, god, and greed reborn, rise up wanting more and hopes are dashed by gluttony with a smile on its face.

The world has time but we don’t. And the world has time but we don’t.

Problem: Religion

It is said by many that religion is as old as humanity.  It isn’t, but if it was it has been a problem for all of human history.  There are many problematic aspects of religion not the least being its undermining of Truth, critical thinking, and the ability to decipher and search out meaningful truth, the scientific method.  Other problematic aspects include the justification of human weaknesses, greediness, arrogance, selfishness, its stubborn and insistent anti-progressive stance, and the propagation of ignorance in general.

People turn to religion for many reasons, most of them bad, but for whatever reason people turn to it society pays.  Churches are subsidized in several ways by the government (i.e society).  They pay little to no taxes and in turn add little to no advantage to society other than to those who attend this or that particular church.  Furthermore, religion has held societies in its grip for eons, standing in the way of social, economic, scientific and cultural progress.  Religion is a problem, but so is the legislation of morality. The theocratic tendencies of religions continue to be a dangerous issue to most societies.  People may have the right to believe what they want, false or not.  However, all of society should not have to pay for that right.

Solution: taxation and education

The ultimate solution is for humanity to turn its back upon the crutch of religious belief by educating itself (especially regarding critical thinking).  However, this is unlikely.  So, the education of children should be limited to non-religious public education systems and private educational institutions should be limited to secular only.  In short, religious belief has no place in any educational institution and has no business calling itself (or being established as) an educational institution (i.e. “Bible College” etc…).

Secondly, religions should be stripped of their nonprofit and/or not-for-profit status entirely.  The multi-million-dollar monstrosities that dot most cityscapes should not exist if its members do not want to pay for it themselves.  Public coffers and policy-making need to be off-limits to religious organizations, including the ability for religions to lobby the government.  If a religious organization of any kind desires to do more, become public, build, or create an institution for public use, it should be held to the same tax laws as any other business.

However, religion is and ought to be a private affair alone.  The division of church and state should be absolute.  The Christian figure Jesus, perhaps said it best:

“When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men … but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.”

Merry & Happy!

“Keep ‘christ’ in Christmas”

“There’s a reason to the season”

There are many Christian platitudes that have taken over Christmas in this country, the USA.  But as anyone with any curiosity would know, Christmas is a mishmash of numerous belief systems and traditions.  It really has nothing to do with the Christian religion.  However, the so-called ‘battle’ between religion and the non-religious seems to churn along in all of its unimportant and ideological glory.  This is too bad.

As about as militant an atheist as there is (think Richard Dawkins), what we call this time of year is truly unimportant.  In fact, I would argue to those that are put off on either side are missing the point entirely.  First, if we called the holiday season Kwansikanikas, or Hanumanikas, the problem would still be here because as a society we tend to miss important points.

As the atheist beforementioned I would like to take this time to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS!  To those fellow atheists, quit sweating the small stuff.  To those religious folks that happen not to be christians, just enjoy your own holiday in your own way and quit trying prove a point.  To those christians that continually bleat the importance of Christ in Christmas read some history and get off your high horse.

Remember, it is seldom that we human beings can actually smile at each other and wish each other the best; let’s do that, if not all year then at least for a short time at the end of the year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
